Cyprus has outlined its strategic plans for enhanced engagement with Central Asian countries following a recent regional tour, Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos revealed in an interview. Highlighting the importance of the region for Cyprus, Kombos emphasized the need to safeguard the island's interests amidst complex geopolitical dynamics.

Central Asian states such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan are commonly considered within Turkey's sphere of influence, creating potential challenges for Cyprus. Kombos stressed the necessity of fostering dialogue in regions where serious issues could arise, aiming to build constructive relationships.

Progress made with Kazakhstan was identified as a key reference point for Cyprus’s broader engagement strategy with other Central Asian nations, signaling a commitment to strengthening ties in this strategically significant area.
