🧒 EKO and Panagiotis Giannakis Launch Basketball Youth Programme to Develop Cyprus’s Future Athletes
EKO Cyprus, in collaboration with the Cyprus Basketball Federation and basketball legend Panagiotis Giannakis, has launched the Basketball Youth Programme to nurture aspiring athletes aged 10 to 16 across Cyprus. The initiative aims to provide young players from academies in Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca with 12 training sessions designed to develop their basketball skills alongside core values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
The programme commenced in June 2026 with sessions in Nicosia and will continue in other districts, offering children opportunities to learn from Giannakis, who serves as the ambassador and actively participates in training. Public engagement events at EKO service stations will also allow basketball enthusiasts to meet Giannakis.
Representatives from the government, including the President’s office and the Ministries of Education and Energy, praised the initiative as a meaningful partnership that promotes sport, development, and healthy outlets for youth. EKO Cyprus emphasizes its commitment to social responsibility through supporting sport, education, and community development.
