Nine individuals were arrested during nationwide police operations on Friday night, authorities confirmed. The suspects face charges related to attempted arson, illegal drug possession, use of stolen motorcycles, drunk driving, and illegal residence in the republic.

The extensive operation included stopping 666 vehicles and checking 810 people, with a strong focus on traffic enforcement. Police issued 371 reports for traffic violations and investigated 28 additional cases. Among the offenses were 118 speeding incidents and 27 cases of driving under the influence. Additionally, three drivers tested positive in preliminary drug screenings.

As part of the crackdown, 20 vehicles were impounded during ongoing investigations. Police conducted 263 alcohol tests and eight drug tests, emphasizing their commitment to public safety. Authorities announced that similar operations with targeted checks and patrols will continue daily to maintain law and order across Cyprus.
