Nicosia will host the 2026 URBACT City Festival on September 29 and 30, welcoming hundreds of local authorities, urban practitioners, researchers, and policymakers from across Europe. The event, co-organised by the EU-funded URBACT programme and the Municipality of Nicosia, will transform Eleftheria Square into a hub of urban discussions, knowledge exchange, and participatory activities.

On the morning of September 29, more than 300 municipal representatives will present their initiatives in areas such as climate action, participatory governance, local economy, social cohesion, and urban planning at a marketplace event. The afternoon sessions will focus on thematic topics including nature-based solutions, local economy, urban planning, and greening urban economies.

This two-day festival offers valuable networking opportunities for professionals, academics, students, and urban enthusiasts, fostering collaborations and showcasing innovative urban practices to address contemporary urban challenges.
