🛩️ Charter Flights Between Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus Near Launch, Says Turkish Cypriot PM
Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister Unal Ustel announced that the process for launching charter flights between Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus is at an advanced stage. Speaking in Baku, Ustel highlighted significant progress in discussions and hinted that these new air services could start soon once agreements are finalized.
Ustel emphasized that the proposed flights aim to boost tourism, trade, and higher education cooperation, potentially increasing visitor numbers and strengthening economic and cultural ties between the two regions. His remarks came during a cultural event attended by officials from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Northern Cyprus.
Despite this progress, air links to Northern Cyprus remain politically sensitive, as the north is recognized only by Turkey, and the Republic of Cyprus views such flights as outside international aviation laws. No specific timeline for the commencement of flights was provided, and Azerbaijani officials have yet to confirm any agreements publicly.
