A fire that broke out early on Sunday in the Pregkos area of Neo Chorio, Paphos district, is believed to have been started maliciously, according to the Forestry Department. The fire began at 5:20 a.m. and was brought under control within 50 minutes, at 6:10 a.m., preventing further spread.
The blaze burned approximately one decare of stubble and wild vegetation. Firefighting efforts involved two Forestry Department personnel with one fire engine and two Fire Service staff with one fire engine. Authorities noted the simultaneous ignition at three separate points, leading to the conclusion that the fire was deliberately set.
