Final-year students and their parents from the English School in Nicosia plan to hold a protest this Friday outside the school and the nearby Presidential Palace. The protest comes in response to the cancellation of the traditional graduation ceremony, which was called off following significant vandalism during the annual overnight celebration organized by the graduating class.

School officials reported incidents including graffiti, abusive messages aimed at staff and administration, and overturned furniture. Despite security measures, the perpetrators were not identified, as some students wore masks and hoods. The school decided to cancel the main graduation event, opting for a simple diploma presentation instead.

Parents argue that the entire graduating class should not be penalized for the actions of a minority, highlighting the importance of the ceremony and pre-arranged travel plans. They are appealing to President Nikos Christodoulides to reconsider the cancellation. The protest is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm on Friday.
