Elam has been appointed chairman of three parliamentary standing committees: defence, transport, and environment. This marks a significant shift as the parties previously holding these chairs lost all their parliamentary seats in the recent election. The former chairs were from Edek, Dipa, and the Ecologists’ Movement respectively. Meanwhile, Disy and Akel have maintained their chairmanships of five committees each, with Disy overseeing foreign affairs, energy, legal, health, and institutions, and Akel retaining the interior, agriculture, labour, human rights, and refugee committees. Diko continues to chair the finance, education, and audit committees, as in the previous parliament.
