A probationary police officer was dismissed on Friday following his arrest for possession of anabolic substances. The officer was apprehended on June 4 after 69 vials containing anabolic steroids were found in his possession. Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis confirmed the dismissal, which was approved by Justice Minister Costas Fitiris.

Anabolic steroid use without a valid prescription is illegal in Cyprus, with unauthorized possession, distribution, or sale punishable by fines or imprisonment. Arnaoutis emphasized that corruption, delinquency, or abuse of power have no place in the police force and that addressing such issues is a top priority for police leadership.
