🍽️ Pathogenic organisms found in food delivery bags, warns Cyprus Consumers Association
The Cyprus Consumers Association conducted laboratory tests on food delivery bags, revealing the presence of pathogenic organisms capable of causing food poisoning. The association's president, Marios Drousiotis, described the condition of the two bags tested as unacceptable.
Complaints about hygiene standards of food transport containers prompted the association to contact the Health Services, which initiated necessary inspections. Following the findings, health authorities communicated with the Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB), advising food delivery companies on hygiene compliance measures.
Drousiotis emphasized that while packaged food reduces contamination risk, it does not eliminate it, highlighting that delivery companies must regularly clean and disinfect transport containers. The responsibility primarily lies with delivery platforms, then distributors and food producers, with a call for improved enforcement to ensure public health safety.
