💊 Cyprus invites applications for 2026 islandwide stray cat sterilisation scheme
Cyprus Veterinary Services has announced that local authorities, animal welfare groups, and veterinarians interested in the 2026 islandwide stray cat sterilisation scheme have until June 26 to apply. Applications must be submitted through district veterinary offices, and only local authorities or registered animal welfare organisations can apply on behalf of individuals or unregistered volunteers caring for stray cats.
Private sector veterinarians are encouraged to join, provided they operate registered and properly equipped clinics capable of performing surgeries and offering post-operative care. Veterinarians without their own clinic may participate if they declare a partnering clinic and submit a cooperation agreement.
This sterilisation programme is part of ongoing efforts to manage Cyprus’ stray cat population through humane and organised means. A list of participating organisations and local authorities will be published on the Veterinary Services website after the application deadline.
