Cyprus showcased its growing defence industry at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, marking a significant step toward transforming the sector from research-focused to export-oriented. Cypriot companies presented advanced defence and technology products, demonstrating progress comparable to international standards. The national pavilion featured firms specializing in defence, security, space, telecommunications, and energy, reflecting a strategic push by the government to expand the industry's international reach.

The event also enabled Cyprus to sign two memoranda of cooperation with foreign defence and aerospace associations in France and the UK, aimed at enhancing collaboration and opening new markets. Despite challenges in selling defence products primarily to state buyers, close cooperation between the Ministry of Defence, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and private firms is fostering development and certification efforts crucial for competitiveness.

Officials emphasized the importance of integrating Cypriot companies into broader European defence programs and supporting them through certification, testing, and networking initiatives. A government strategy for the next five years focuses on establishing Cyprus as a reliable participant in the European defence ecosystem, converting current innovations into sustained exports and partnerships.
