Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanolis attended the gala dinner at the ICS 2026 Shaping the Future of Shipping Summit in Rome, reinforcing Cyprus’ active role in global maritime affairs. The event, co-organised by the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and Confitarma, brought together senior officials and industry leaders to discuss challenges including geopolitical tensions, regulatory changes, and the energy transition affecting shipping.
During her three-day visit, Hadjimanolis participated in a ministerial panel with maritime ministers from Italy, Greece, and Malta and held bilateral meetings with international maritime organisations. Cyprus is keen to maintain its influential presence in international shipping, a sector key to the island’s economy and global connectivity.
The summit also marked a leadership transition at the ICS, with John Denholm CBE elected as the new chairman. The event highlighted collaboration among maritime stakeholders and was supported by Cyprus’ diplomatic maritime offices in Athens and London, reflecting the country’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation within the shipping industry.
