💊 Cyprus veterinary services launch digital system for foot and mouth disease movement permits
Cyprus veterinary services have introduced a new digital system to manage movement permits related to foot and mouth disease restrictions, replacing previous paper-based applications with an electronic platform featuring QR code verification. The system allows faster submission and immediate approval checks at control points, improving processing speed and accuracy.
The digital tool covers permits for the movement of animals, agricultural products, and professionals within restricted zones, serving farmers, veterinarians, and livestock breeders nationally and locally. It provides automated permit verification to reduce delays and enhance enforcement consistency across checkpoints and road networks.
Developed with the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre, the platform supports traceability from departure to destination, integrating vehicle and individual movement tracking alongside disinfection point monitoring. An interactive map displays real-time protection zones and controls, aiding compliance and preparedness for future animal health challenges. Training and ongoing support are offered to users during implementation.
