On Wednesday, June 24, Cypriot public hospitals will operate with emergency personnel only as the hourly-paid lifeguards join a nationwide 24-hour strike organized by government contract workers. The strike is expected to impact lifeguard coverage across all public beaches in Cyprus.

The Organisation of Cyprus Public Hospitals (OKYPY) emphasized that it is making every effort to minimize inconvenience to the public while prioritizing patient safety and maintaining the smooth operation of hospitals and health centers. The Ministry of Interior has warned swimmers and beachgoers to exercise extra caution during the strike due to the reduction in lifeguard services.

This coordinated action follows trade union announcements and aims to highlight workers' concerns, underscoring the importance of safeguarding both public health services and beach safety during the industrial action.
