Cyprus’ recent state visit to India marked a significant step in strengthening economic and cultural ties between the two nations. The delegation, led by President Nikos Christodoulides, engaged in high-level discussions and signed multiple memoranda of understanding during the Cyprus India Business Forum held at Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. The event attracted business leaders, investors, and government officials, signaling a mutual intent to build practical partnerships beyond diplomatic formalities.

Sunil Kapoor, COO at Oesterreichischer Lloyd Shipping Group and an Indian-born Cypriot, participated in the visit and highlighted Cyprus’ strategic role in the emerging India Middle East Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). Cyprus, positioned as a maritime bridge linking three continents, draws interest from diverse sectors including film, healthcare, shipping, finance, and technology. Kapoor emphasized the importance of authentic engagement and shared his personal experience of building a life and business in Cyprus since 2007.

The visit culminated in strengthened personal and professional connections, with delegates expressing optimism about ongoing cooperation.
