🎉 Strong collector interest in key Cypriot artists at Cypria Auctions' Summer Sale
The recent Cypria Auctions Summer Sale showcased notable results, reflecting sustained collector interest in pivotal figures of Cypriot art. A highlight was Loukia Nicolaidou-Vassiliou's work, which sold for €5,500, significantly exceeding its estimated value. Nicolaidou-Vassiliou is recognized as one of Cyprus's first women painters and holds a distinct place in the island's art history.
Sculpture also drew attention, with Ioannis Antoniou’s ceramic sculpture Suitcase fetching €1,900, surpassing its expected range. Antoniou is celebrated for blending conceptual depth with skilled craftsmanship. Additionally, works by Christoforos Savva, a founding figure of Cypriot modernism, sold well, including his small mixed-media Landscape that went for €1,400 against a modest estimate.
