👮 4kg of liquid cocaine seized at Larnaca Airport from 65-year-old passenger
Authorities at Larnaca Airport have seized four kilograms of liquid cocaine concealed in cosmetic containers within a passenger's luggage. The 65-year-old man was detained following the discovery, marking the first time such a quantity of liquid cocaine has been found in Cyprus. The arrest occurred around 2:15 p.m. during a joint operation between the Cyprus Anti-Drug Authority (YKAN) and Customs officials.
The liquid cocaine was found in ten nylon packages hidden inside plastic cosmetic containers. Following initial detection, the substance was confirmed as cocaine through further testing. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning and the investigation remains ongoing.
This significant seizure highlights increased vigilance and cooperation between YKAN and Customs to intercept drug trafficking attempts into Cyprus. Authorities continue to examine the case in the Larnaca district to prevent future illicit drug importation.
