👮 Eight arrested in overnight police operation targeting crime in urban Cyprus
Eight individuals were arrested overnight during police operations in urban areas of Cyprus, primarily for carrying a knife, causing grievous bodily harm, theft, and illegal residence. The authorities intensified efforts to crack down on criminal activity and enforce public safety.
In the course of the operation, police stopped 600 vehicles and checked 803 drivers and passengers. They filed 376 reports for various offences, including 98 for speeding violations. Additionally, seven drivers were charged with drink driving, and two were booked for driving under the influence of drugs. Twelve vehicles were also impounded as part of the crackdown.
Police raids extended to 39 establishments, resulting in seven reports being filed. The operation reflects ongoing efforts by law enforcement to maintain order and combat criminal behavior within the Republic.
