A psychologist in Limassol was sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty on four counts of sexually abusing a teenage patient under his care. The Permanent Criminal Court delivered the custodial sentence following a closed-door hearing, citing the abuse of trust, authority, and influence over the minor.

The offenses involved a 17-year-old girl who initially sought psychological help, with the court noting improvements in her confidence and social relationships before the abuse occurred. The defendant manipulated the victim by flattering her, normalizing sexual activity, and arranging private meetings under false pretenses. He then engaged in inappropriate sexual acts and showed pornographic content to her.

The court heard testimony from nine prosecution witnesses and the defendant, who also called three witnesses in his defense. The victim later disclosed the abuse, expressing feelings of betrayal. The conviction was based on violations of laws protecting children from sexual abuse and violence against women.
