🏗️ Nicosia roadworks on Kritis and Filippiados Streets causing major traffic disruptions for two months
Nicosia Municipality has commenced roadworks on Kritis Street and Filippiados Street, leading to significant traffic disruptions and parking difficulties for drivers, residents, and businesses. The project, expected to last two months, is part of the “Appropriate construction of various roads in Nicosia — Contract 23 City Centre” and covers Kritis Street from Digeni Akrita Avenue to Stasandrou Street.
Drivers are facing challenges finding parking near medical facilities, pharmacies, and local businesses, while residents on nearby Androklis Street report increased congestion as it absorbs overflow traffic. Staff from offices and medical practices are assisting clients in locating short-term parking amid the disruptions.
The works include installing a stormwater drainage system, new accessible pavements, road resurfacing, revised traffic arrangements, improved signage, new on-street parking bays, and utility upgrades. Drivers are urged to follow temporary road signs and traffic signals, with temporary traffic lights operating at the junction of Androklis and Stasandrou streets. The project is funded under the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan through the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (NextGenerationEU).
