The Cyprus Women’s cricket team delivered a commanding performance by sweeping Malta 5-0 in the ICC Women’s T20I bilateral series held at Happy Valley Ground, Episkopi, from June 18 to 20. Coming off a recent 4-1 win over Greece, Cyprus showcased dominance with captain Iresha Chathurani emerging as the top run-scorer with 131 runs and earning the series MVP honor.

On the bowling front, Cyprus bowlers Ayesha Bandara and Chathurangi Dunukedeniya led the wicket tally alongside Malta’s Silda Joy, each taking nine wickets. The victory elevated Cyprus Women to 37th place in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings, significantly ahead of the men’s team, currently ranked 65th.

With the women’s domestic cricket set to resume soon at Happy Valley, attention also shifts to the men’s T20 knockout stage scheduled for June 28. Cyprus cricket hopes the men’s side can build on the rising standards set by the women’s team as both competitions continue to develop locally and internationally.
