In 2024, the French village of Seine-Port took steps to combat smartphone overuse by encouraging residents and visitors to refrain from phone use in public spaces to promote genuine human interaction. The initiative included shopkeepers displaying signs requesting customers to put phones away and offering teenagers simple phones if they avoided smartphones until age 15.

Reflecting this concern, statistics reveal that average daily phone use can reach over two hours, amounting to nearly 37 full days annually spent looking at screens. The concept of "A Day Without Your Phone" (ADWYP) encourages individuals to take structured breaks from digital stimulation, fostering awareness and reconnection with surroundings through activities like walking, reading, or conversing uninterrupted. This practice aims to retrain the brain and revive the experience of living fully in the present moment.
