🌴 Strovolos and Nicosia to become model accessible sports and tourism destination under SPORTS4ALL project

Strovolos and the wider Nicosia area will be developed as a model accessible sports and tourism destination through the European project SPORTS4ALL, running from December 2025 to December 2027. The initiative, part of the Interreg VI-A Greece-Cyprus Cooperation Programme, aims to enhance sports infrastructure and integrate innovative digital technologies to improve accessibility.

The project is a cross-border collaboration involving the Region of Crete, the South Crete Association of Parents and Friends of People with Disabilities “To Mellon’s,” the municipality of Strovolos, and the Nicosia regional tourism board. On the Cyprus side, key upgrades include modernization of the Glafcos Clerides Municipal Sports Centre and development of digital applications and virtual reality experiences to enrich user access and participation, especially for people with disabilities and visitors with reduced mobility.

With a total budget of nearly €2 million funded by the European Regional Development Fund and national resources from Greece and Cyprus, SPORTS4ALL aims to promote equal opportunities in sports and enhance the international profile of Nicosia as an inclusive, outward-looking capital.
