A fire broke out yesterday at 15:01 in a bedroom on the first floor of a two-storey house in Lakatamia, Nicosia district. A resident managed to escape safely before the fire spread. Two fire engines responded promptly, and firefighters extinguished the blaze using breathing apparatus and water hoses. The bedroom and its contents sustained extensive damage in the incident. Initial investigations indicate the fire may have been caused by an electric iron left switched on and resting on fabric.
