Medochemie Limited (Cyprus) is now the only EU supplier with an EU Marketing Authorisation providing Praziquantel 600mg tablets, responding to severe shortages caused by the original manufacturer ceasing production. The discontinuation has resulted in a gradual pan-European shortage of this essential drug.

Medochemie has already dispatched its first shipment to Greece to meet patient needs into 2026, with plans to distribute more across other EU member states as import permits are arranged. Praziquantel is a first-line treatment for trematode infections, including schistosomiasis, liver flukes, and lung flukes.
