🎉 Nicosia to Host Ninth Robotex Robotics Competition with 700 Participants and International Presence

Nicosia is gearing up to become a major innovation hub as it prepares to host the ninth Robotex Pancyprian Educational and Athletics Robotics Competition on June 27-28, 2026. The festival, held at the University of Cyprus Sports Centre, will welcome around 700 participants, ranging from school pupils to adult robotics enthusiasts from across Cyprus. The event features over 20 challenges testing engineering and programming skills, with winners earning the chance to represent Cyprus at the Robotex International finals in South Korea.

The competition includes diverse activities such as drone programming, SUMO robotics, rally racing, and a special Girls Firefighting category aimed at increasing female participation in STEAM fields. Visitors can also explore Drone Soccer, Human vs Robot chess, and interactive sessions on astronomy and artificial intelligence. Organised by the Cyprus Computer Society in partnership with several institutions, the event has strong governmental and corporate support.

Scholarships for high-performing lyceum students will be awarded by various Cypriot private universities, reinforcing the competition’s role in fostering future talent. The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nicodemos Damianou, will officially open the event, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to technological advancement in Cyprus.
