🌊 Cyprus Achieves 100% Excellent Rating for Bathing Waters in EU Report
Cyprus has been ranked among the European Union’s top performers for bathing water quality, with all 123 monitored sites receiving an “excellent” classification in the EU's 2025 annual bathing water report. This achievement highlights Cyprus’s commitment to environmental protection and public health.
The Agriculture Ministry attributed this success to stringent environmental protection measures and close cooperation between the Department of Environment, Health Services, Public Health Services, the General State Chemical Laboratory, and local authorities. The ministry emphasized the importance of water quality for safeguarding tourism and strengthening Cyprus’s reputation as a destination with clean, safe beaches.
By fulfilling the strict specifications of the European directive on bathing water management, Cyprus joins Austria, Bulgaria, and Greece in having over 95% of bathing waters rated as excellent, with Cyprus leading at 100%. The ministry reaffirmed the country’s dedication to sustainable management of natural resources for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
