A man caused serious damage to five employee vehicles at the Agioi Anargyroi Social Services Office by smashing their windows with a crowbar. The suspect, a Greek national involved in a housing dispute and recipient of the Guaranteed Minimum Income, was arrested after the incident. He had previously visited the office seeking housing assistance but was told he must find housing first before financial support could be arranged.

The Sectoral Council of Social Services Officers of the Pancyprian Trade Union ISOTITA condemned the attack, highlighting it as a particularly alarming event that endangered staff, visitors, and security personnel. The union stated that aggression and violence towards employees at Social Welfare Services offices have been ongoing problems for years, with insufficient safety measures implemented despite repeated warnings and requests.

In response, staff held a two-hour work stoppage to protest the lack of effective protection. The union urged authorities to immediately enforce fully functional and specific security protocols across all Social Services Offices to prevent future incidents, stressing that ensuring workplace safety is a fundamental responsibility that cannot be delayed.
