💊 No New Foot-and-Mouth Disease Cases in Cyprus as 121 Farms Remain Quarantined

The head of the Cypriot Veterinary Association, Dimitris Epaminondas, has confirmed that recent tests for foot-and-mouth disease have detected no new positive cases. Currently, 121 farms remain under quarantine as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. The continuation or easing of quarantine measures will depend on the overall test results and completion of vaccination efforts.

Epaminondas described the absence of new cases in Limassol and Nicosia districts in recent days as a positive development. Culling operations of affected animals have been completed, and vaccinations have now started at farms in Paphos, where they had not yet been administered. Despite the large number of animals culled, there is sufficient meat supply for the domestic market, eliminating the need for imports.
