👮 Court annuls suspension of former prison director Anna Aristotelous amid ongoing criminal case

The administrative court annulled the Public Service Commission's decision to suspend former prison director Anna Aristotelous, effective until the conclusion of a pending criminal case involving classified documents. Aristotelous had appealed the commission’s decision, which had resulted in a significant pay cut. The court ruled that the suspension recommendation should have come from the presidency of the Republic, not the cabinet, as Aristotelous was still serving the presidency when the suspension was proposed.

Aristotelous’ lawyer has informed the cabinet's secretariat of the court ruling and requested her immediate reinstatement to a permanent secretary position. The case stems from a 2025 police investigation following the discovery of confidential documents removed from a prison, which led to the arrest of five individuals, including prison guards and a police cadet. Aristotelous and former deputy director Athina Demetriou have both testified in connection with the investigation.
