💰 Cyprus casinos generate €166.4 million in state revenue since 2018
Casinos operating in the Republic of Cyprus have contributed a total of €166.4 million to state revenues between 2018 and 2025, according to Pieris Chourides, chairman of the Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission. Over the past two years alone, the government’s net revenue from casinos has reached €41 million.
Chourides presented these figures during the release of the Commission’s annual report, highlighting the significant fiscal impact of the newly operating casinos since their inception in 2018. He emphasized the ongoing importance of regulated casino operations in supporting public finances.
Addressing concerns about gambling practices in the region, Chourides described casinos in the Turkish-controlled north as "illegal" but acknowledged that the authorities cannot stop residents of the Republic from crossing into the north to gamble.
