🏗️ Pedieos Linear Park redevelopment in Nicosia now estimated at over €30 million
The redevelopment plan for the 11.8-kilometre Pedieos Linear Park spanning Nicosia, Strovolos, and Lakatamia has seen its estimated cost rise to over €30 million, up from an initial €22 million. The project includes the construction of new facilities such as four outdoor gyms, 11 children’s playgrounds, an artificial lake, and 14 pedestrian bridges.
This large-scale initiative will be co-financed 85% by European funds and 15% by the municipalities involved. Construction will proceed in two phases, with the first phase expected to take 43 months and focusing on areas like Prodromos Park and Agioi Omologites. The second phase will occur later, stretching into the 2028-2034 programming period.
The master plan emphasizes ecological restoration, enhanced biodiversity, sports and recreation areas, sustainable mobility, and smart technology integration. The park aims to serve as a green corridor promoting sustainable urban development and improving residents’ quality of life through improved green spaces, multifunctional recreational areas, and advanced infrastructure.
