🔥 Two minor fires in Nicosia caused by electrical fault and unattended cooking

Two separate fires in Nicosia on Monday resulted in minor damage, according to the fire service. The first fire, reported at 5:13 pm in Lakatamia, started in a water drilling control panel and spread to the roof of a two-storey wooden house. Firefighters controlled the blaze by 7:46 pm, which caused damage to parts of the roof, electrical installation, and paintwork.

Later that evening, at 9:32 pm, a kitchen fire broke out in a third-floor apartment in Strovolos, caused by unattended cooking. The apartment owner had already extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived, who then ventilated the property. Damage was limited to kitchen equipment and some minor paintwork.

Between 6 am Monday and 6 am Tuesday, the fire service attended 31 incidents in total, including 16 fires, 13 special service calls, and two false alarms.
