💰 Gen Z and Millennials Prioritise Wellbeing and Stability Over Rapid Career Advancement, Deloitte Survey Finds
A Deloitte survey of over 22,500 Gen Z and millennial respondents across 44 countries reveals a significant shift in career priorities, with younger generations placing wellbeing, stability, and skills development above rapid promotions and traditional success metrics. Financial pressures, including the cost of living and housing affordability, continue to delay major life decisions such as starting a family or launching a business for the majority of participants.
Despite these challenges, optimism about improving personal finances remains strong, with over half expecting better financial conditions within a year. Leadership roles attract less immediate interest due to concerns over stress, burnout, and work-life balance, with many preferring steady career growth or even lateral moves for long-term success. The report also highlights an accelerated adoption of artificial intelligence at work, viewed largely positively for enhancing efficiency and career development, though many feel their organisations are unprepared for rapid technological changes.
The survey underscores generational shifts in workplace values and the need for organisations to evolve with changing employee expectations. As Gen Z and millennials reshape career norms amidst economic and technological challenges, they set new precedents for future generations entering the labour market.
