⚔️ Cyprus strengthens strategic ties with Israel and US through 3+1 cooperation in Eastern Mediterranean
Elam MEP Geadis Geadi praised Cyprus’ growing relations with Israel and the United States during a Middle East debate in Strasbourg, highlighting the 3+1 cooperation framework between Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and the US. This partnership aims to promote stability, security, and development across the eastern Mediterranean region. Geadi emphasized Cyprus’ role as a key stabilizing factor amidst regional turmoil caused by extremist forces.
The 3+1 cooperation focuses on areas such as energy, natural gas, defense, and economic collaboration. Recently, the partners signed an agreement to establish an Eastern Mediterranean energy centre intended to support energy projects and infrastructure, underlining the strategic significance of regional cooperation.
Cyprus Energy Minister Michael Damianos, along with counterparts from Greece, Israel, and the US, formalized the initiative, which government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis described as a development of notable political and geostrategic importance. This framework offers a stable platform for ongoing dialogue and coordination in a region marked by geopolitical shifts.
