💰 Adaptability will determine leading banks, Eurobank says at ICPAC Summit 2026
Eurobank told attendees at the ICPAC Mediterranean Finance Summit 2026 that adaptability will determine which banks lead in the new era amid geopolitical challenges and sectoral transformation. Deputy CEO Haris Hambakis said Cyprus entered 2026 on solid economic footing with restored fiscal credibility and a resilient banking system, but warned the positive trajectory depends on productivity gains, targeted investment, consistent policymaking and effective management of geopolitical and climate-related risks.
Eurobank said the evolving global environment is reshaping banks' operating models towards a more customer-centric, data-driven approach. The bank urged simpler, more flexible organisations that accelerate digital transformation by modernising core infrastructure, strengthening digital channels and leveraging data and automation to improve efficiency and decision-making, while also stressing the need for stronger accountability, collaboration and faster internal decision-making.
Hambakis added that resilience alone will not suffice: the banks that stand out will be those that align strategy, technology and culture and execute transformation quickly while continuing to support the real economy.
