💰 House president and MPs among best-paid officials with pay up to €11,456 monthly

Treasury figures show the House president and members of parliament, together with religious representatives, are among the best-paid state officials in Cyprus. The House president receives a gross monthly salary of €8,715, rising to €11,456 with allowances and a net monthly pay of about €7,461 after pension and tax deductions. MPs and religious representatives receive a gross monthly salary of €7,911 and a net monthly pay of about €5,466 after a 3% pension contribution and taxes.

On an annual basis an MP’s gross salary excluding allowances is €56,310; with a representation allowance (€20,503), a cost-of-living adjustment (€5,804) and a secretarial services allowance (€12,302) the gross annual pay over 13 months reaches €99,612. Annual deductions before income tax total €11,944 and net annual pay after tax is about €68,684. A separate travel allowance of €7,791 is also recorded. The pay issue resurfaced following Sunday’s parliamentary elections; under the Constitution payments to outgoing MPs stop and begin for newly elected members upon swearing-in.
