👮 Four defendants in Larnaca criminal organisation case to appear again on September 16
The four defendants in a case alleging participation in a criminal organisation will next appear before the Larnaca Assize Court on 16 September 2026. Three of the accused were released on conditions after the court removed several charges from the indictment; each was ordered to sign a €30,000 guarantee with solvent guarantors, surrender travel documents and report to a police station three times a week. One 22‑year‑old defendant remains remanded and is also accused of the attempted murder of a well‑known businessman.
The accused, who include a 42‑year‑old and two 29‑year‑olds, deny the charges. A separate 32‑year‑old linked to the case was previously acquitted for lack of sufficient evidence. The four suspects were arrested on 22 January during a large-scale operation in Larnaca and at the Central Prisons, and the court said the substantial change to the indictment justified re-examining the detention requests for the three released individuals.
