A kitchen fire on Friday afternoon in Mesa Yitonia, Limassol caused extensive damage to the kitchen and part of the electrical installation, while smoke affected the rest of the house. The residents were not at home when the blaze started. Initial inspections indicate the fire began from a pan forgotten on the stove, which left the property significantly damaged but no reported injuries.

Earlier the same day, the fire brigade was alerted at 13:19 to a blaze at the International State Fair grounds that burned about three acres of wild vegetation, trees and waste. On Friday morning a separate fire in Ergates, Nicosia, burned three hectares of crops, hay bales and wild vegetation; it was extinguished in an operation involving three fire brigade trucks, two rapid reaction vehicles with firefighters and volunteers, three Forestry Department trucks and private tractors.
