A 75-year-old woman, identified as Margery Balfour, died after being struck by a car in a hotel car park in Paphos on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred at around 1:50 p.m.; an ambulance took her to Paphos General Hospital where she was admitted for surgery but succumbed to her injuries during the operation, police said.

Investigators said a 56-year-old man was reversing out of the car park and had given the woman priority to pass when she appeared to lose her balance and fall onto the asphalt. Unaware she had fallen, the driver moved forward and one of the car’s wheels struck her in the back while she was on the ground. The driver was arrested under a judicial warrant and detained to facilitate enquiries. Paphos Traffic Police are continuing their investigation.
