Torrential rain on Saturday caused hazardous driving conditions on major roads, with police warning of water build-up and reduced visibility. Heavy rainfall affected the Nicosia–Larnaca and Nicosia–Akaki highways from around midday, prompting authorities to urge drivers to reduce speed, maintain distance and keep headlights on.

Hail was reported in parts of Nicosia, including Strovolos, Makedonitissa and Lakatamia, with videos shared on social media. The weather department said an unstable air mass will keep conditions mainly cloudy through the afternoon with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, especially inland, over the mountains and in the southeast. Winds will blow southwest to northwest at three to four Beaufort, rising briefly to four to five in windward coastal areas. Tonight is expected to become mostly clear, though low cloud and patchy mist or fog are possible early. Temperatures should rise slightly Sunday through Tuesday but remain below seasonal averages.
