📰 Demetriou urges stability, Anastasiades warns fragmentation ahead of parliamentary vote
DISY leader Annita Demetriou called on voters to back “responsibility and stability” after casting her ballot at Troulloi primary school, saying the country faces a “difficult time” and the next parliament must be capable of meeting heavy legislative responsibilities. Arriving with relatives and friends, she urged public participation and said “at the end of the day, citizens decide,” wished all candidates luck and noted she did not use the Digital Citizen application to vote, opting for the traditional process instead.
Former president Nicos Anastasiades, who voted at the Laniteio lyceum in Limassol, described election day as “a day of celebration” but warned that excessive political fragmentation could undermine consensus in the House. He urged parties to prioritise cooperation and the national interest rather than self-promotion, cautioned that inflation can cause instability and repeated his earlier warning that a pluralistic chamber risks becoming a “parliament of Babel.”
