📰 Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides votes in Paphos, urges turnout and pledges respectful cooperation
President Nikos Christodoulides cast his vote at 10:15 this morning at the A' Primary School in Geroskipou, Paphos, accompanied by his wife Philippa Karsera Christodoulides. He urged citizens to participate in the 2026 parliamentary elections, noting recent reforms such as automatic voter registration and lowering the voting age to 17, and said abstention is not an option.
Christodoulides said he is not anxious about the election outcome, which he added will be fully respected by the executive branch, and pledged to work with the new Parliament. He said he is ready to cooperate on the basis of his administration’s ideological and political orientation, not through deals, and called for substantive debate on issues affecting society and the national question. He confirmed he voted according to his ideological-political criteria and will follow election results tonight.
