👮 Police report smooth electoral process with no major irregularities
Police chief Themistos Arnaoutis said on Sunday the electoral process continued smoothly nationwide, with no major irregularities reported and only minor issues arising. He said police officers were posted at polling stations and patrolling across the country to ensure public order, and that cooperation between services remained continuous and effective. Arnaoutis added that results would be compiled centrally after polls close later in the evening and reiterated that electoral integrity is the priority across all districts.
Asked about unauthorised political billboards, Arnaoutis said responsibility lies with the competent municipalities. Municipal inspectors may issue notices and enforce removal if campaign material remains after warnings, with fines or removal costs applying where regulations are breached, he said.
