📰 Immediate Democracy backs DISY and Speaker Annita Dimitriou for key parliamentary role
Feidias Panayiotou, leader of the Immediate Democracy party, expressed strong support for the Democratic Rally (DISY) after their electoral success, stating that voters want DISY to play a leading role in the Cyprus parliament. This endorsement came following Speaker Annita Dimitriou's re-election, which the Immediate Democracy lawmakers supported due to shared priorities.
The two parties agreed to promote key policies jointly, including increased subsidies for mothers, raising pensions to align with the minimum wage of €1,088, and expanding the housing stock by 10,000 units to reduce rental prices. Additionally, they plan to address borrower issues and fight against foreclosures.
Speaker Dimitriou thanked the Immediate Democracy party for their cooperation and emphasized the importance of partnerships to meet public expectations and deliver effective results. She noted that all parliamentary parties, except ELAM, congratulated her on her re-election.
