🏗️ Nicosia Moat Regeneration Project Enters New Phase with Road Closures and Car Park Shutdown
A new phase of the Nicosia moat regeneration project starts on June 4, involving road closures in the historic core and the closure of the Costanza Bastion municipal car park until mid-December 2026. The road from the OXI roundabout to the car park entrance will be closed to traffic, and the western section of Xanthi Xenierou Street will become a dead-end with limited access for residents.
In addition, two existing closures will continue: the vehicle exit from Thermopylon Street to the OXI roundabout is shut until July 2026, and part of Konstantinou Palaiologou Avenue remains restricted to residents and emergency vehicles. The project includes moving utilities underground, road and pavement reconstruction, and façade improvements along the development route.
Traffic diversions have been set up, including routes via Stasinou Avenue, Doros Loizou Bridge, and Leukonos Street. A ban on lorries using certain narrow streets is also in effect. The municipality urges the public to comply with road signs during the works, which are co-financed by the European Union.
