🏗️ EOA Limassol to inspect Trozena development for permit compliance amid environmental concerns
Officials from the Limassol district local government organisation (EOA Limassol) are set to revisit Trozena soon to verify if the investor has halted construction following instructions to stop works in areas with identified irregularities. The inspection comes after EOA discovered ongoing works without the necessary planning permits in the environmentally sensitive Trozena settlement, part of the Natura 2000 protected network.
EOA president Yiannis Tsouloftas confirmed that a letter was sent on May 25, 2026, demanding suspension of all activities requiring a building permit, with a deadline for compliance. The organisation has also requested the submission of a comprehensive master plan for the entire project, which would be reviewed collectively by EOA and the Environment Department before considering individual applications.
The project, a large-scale redevelopment of an abandoned village including 64 rooms and wellness facilities, has sparked debate over foreign investment, environmental protection, and public access. Investor Uriel Kertsz described Trozena as a place he discovered by chance and fell in love with, while authorities seek to ensure that development proceeds within legal and environmental guidelines.
