👮 Congolese community to hold memorial march in Larnaca for Christian Ndjondo

The Congolese community in Cyprus has organized a peaceful memorial march on Saturday, June 6, in Larnaca to honor Christian Ndjondo, who tragically died on May 27 after falling from a third-floor balcony during a police immigration raid. The march will begin at Larnaca’s Municipal Park at 4:30 pm and proceed to the site of the fall, with organizers calling for solidarity across Cyprus’s diverse communities.

Ndjondo, 46, succumbed to severe head injuries sustained during the incident at the Filanta apartment complex near Larnaca’s old port while the Civil Registry and Migration Department was conducting the raid. Two other men also fell but suffered only minor injuries, and 22 individuals were arrested. Authorities have stated that no internal disciplinary action will be pursued, and the death is under standard judicial investigation.

Civil society groups have urged an independent inquiry, citing concerns based on a similar fatal incident during a police raid in Limassol last year. The march aims to pay tribute to Ndjondo’s memory, support his family, and highlight the need for truth and justice surrounding the circumstances of his death.
