💰 Fuel prices in Cyprus show slight decreases amid Middle East conflict uncertainties

Fuel prices in Cyprus have seen modest reductions of 2-3 cents per liter in recent days, primarily in diesel and gasoline, according to the Consumer Protection Service and the Pancyprian Association of Fuel Station Owners. Despite these decreases, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, particularly involving Iran, continues to create significant volatility in international energy markets, preventing reliable long-term price forecasts.

Since May 10, diesel prices averaged a drop of around 9 cents per liter, while 95-octane gasoline prices have slightly increased by 5 cents per liter. If current trends in Platts pricing persist, further decreases in retail fuel prices are expected, though the situation remains highly uncertain due to ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Experts emphasize that for consumers to perceive noticeable savings, price drops need to be repeated and reach approximately 6-7 cents per liter. Meanwhile, fluctuations in crude oil prices, influenced by international political statements, continue to impact domestic fuel costs. The market awaits clearer signals of stabilization amid continuing regional conflicts before any definitive pricing outlook can be established.
